The engine has larger valves in titanium and it has adopted forged piston technology and spark plug made of Iridium (for a stronger and quicker spark that can better the combustion).

The cylinders are SCEM plated (Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material) and are joined through crankcase, so to reduce friction as well as improve heat transfer and life. The 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 engine has an upped compression ratio of 12.8:1 with the fuel injectors having 12 holes to generate a mist of fuel for a loss-free combustion and also improve on economy.Then, the new GSX-R1000 has S-DMS (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector) on handlebar on left side that offers a mode to select the ride mode to suit the ride conditions as well as economizing on the fuel.

There is torque limiting clutch for hassle-free clutch operation. The new SAES (Suzuki Advanced Exhaust System) has a high volume under-engine chamber as well as Moto GrandPrix styled titanium mufflers.The Idle Speed Control system is to give a stable idle quality that in turn gives low emissions.
